Promoting Sustainable Practices
With increasing global awareness of plastic pollution, the world is witnessing a wave of plastic reduction initiatives. The European Union (EU) plans to fully ban single-use plastic packaging by 2030 and is revising the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) to establish concrete reduction targets: a 10% reduction by 2030, 15% by 2035, and 20% by 2040. This powerful environmental trend is driving the transformation of the packaging industry.
Aluminum, as one of the most abundant and recyclable metals on Earth, offers advantages like infinite recyclability, lightweight properties, and corrosion resistance, making it an excellent alternative to plastic. Developed countries in Europe and North America have long considered aluminum containers a preferred eco-friendly packaging solution, achieving record-high recycling rates. The EU’s aluminum can recycling rate stands at 76%, while Japan exceeds 90%. In Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Environment, the recycling rate for aluminum cans is approximately 84%, highlighting public commitment to environmental protection and the significant potential of recycled aluminum containers.
Having dedicated itself to the aluminum can industry for many years, GCM will continue to uphold the principles of sustainable development and actively promote the circular economy of aluminum.
Advantages of Aluminum Containers
- Safety: Aluminum containers are free of harmful substances like BPA. Food-grade aluminum ensures food safety and reduces the risk of plastic pollution.
- Environmental Sustainability: Recycling aluminum cans saves 95% of energy, significantly reducing the carbon footprint and making them a genuinely eco-friendly packaging choice.
- Infinite Recyclability: Aluminum cans can be recycled infinitely without sacrificing quality, enabling true resource circularity.
